Our founder and head trainer here at KMB Equestrian is Kiersten Butler. Kiersten got an early start in the horse industry, she started grooming and exercise riding for her trainer at a young age. She was working off her board and observing how a big show barn was run, learning all aspects of the job. Kiersten was given the tough rides and the tough jobs, instilling a vast array of skills. By the age of 15, she was hired to retrain and rehome rescue horses for a farm in Nokesville Virginia. The same farm that later offered her a job teaching lessons, where she created a large program and had a waiting list of students. While working with the horses in the rescue, she gained skills that she still uses to this day. She produced everything from hunters, jumpers, eventers, to western pleasure, trail, and ranch horses. There were a vast array of breeds she was able to work with also, the rescue had everything from thoroughbreds and mustangs, to drafts and stock horses. She competed not only the horses she was working with through the rescue, but also her personal horses and client horses of all levels and skill sets.. Kiersten worked with the rescue and taught lessons at the Nokesville farm until she was off on her next endeavor in the horse industry. In 2017 she went on to work at an Equine feed store in Marshall Virginia, where she chose to dive into learning about Equine Nutrition and the digestive system of the horse. She had training sessions with Nutrena Feeds, Buckeye Feeds, and many more high quality & top of the line feed companies. All of that knowledge of which she still uses today to give her personal and client horses in depth and individual feed plans. After working at the feed store and gaining knowledge in every department she could, Kiersten branched off on her own and founded KMB Equestrian LLC. She started with purchasing OTTB's, retraining them for a new career, and rehoming them at a barn she was boarding at in Nokesville Virginia. She found her passion for OTTB's back in 2014 when she purchased her first OTTB "Harley", whom she still owns and competes. That OTTB would later become her 3'6/3'9 horse that won her many blue ribbons. She dedicates a lot of her success to Harley. After much success in her growing program, Kiersten now has a focus on training and sales as well as competing personal and client horses. When walking through her barn you will find thoroughbreds, warmbloods, ponies, and a vast array of breeds. Kiersten takes pride in creating successful methods of training and successful sales for all of her clients and horses. Kiersten also chose to dive into learning all things medical, she has provided rehab/layup board for many equines. Here at KMB Equestrian, the horse comes first and it shows!
